BECOME A PART OF A DIVERSE COMMUNITY

"In Christ All Are Embraced" is not just a tag line at LakeView Lutheran.  It is one of our core beliefs.

LakeView Lutheran appreciates the gifts that come with an inclusive and diverse community. Don't let our small size fool you!  Through the varied gifts and skills of the congregation, LakeView Lutheran has created a supportive and nurturing community. We find a great deal of spiritual strength in the worship style of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and in our ministry with and to people often marginalized by society. Within this framework, worship takes shape, engaging mind, body, and spirit in the experience and celebration of God's presence in the world and in our lives.

In addition to the traditional services and seasons, such as Christmas, Lent, Easter, Pentacost, LakeView Lutheran also incorporates secular music and humor into our services.

Music is a very important part of the services at LakeView Lutheran.  We have a talented group of musicians and singers who perform, under the name Resurrection 835, from time to time during church services, as well as in the community at senior living facilities and Potbelly's at lunch time.

Although the congregation is too small to sustain a traditional choir, musical performances organized by church members have included singing excerpts from Handel's "Messiah," Jesus Christ Superstar, and a Palm Sunday service set to songs of The Beatles. And, every year there is Music Sunday, a service full of music of all types.

The annual Lake View Lutheran Humor Sunday provides an opportunity for reflection in the guise of self-deprecation, corny jokes and puns, games, and on occasion, red clown noses.

And while don't take ourselves too seriously, we do take our commitment to the church and its mission seriously.  For example, Lenten meditations may build on the theme of "tearing down walls" and serving those less fortunate than we are. Guest speakers have included members of homeless and transgender communities, who bring their message to the congregation,  providing us insight and understanding.

On the occasions when our pastor is away, church members also fill in the roles of prayer, meditation, and Holy Communion.

GOING TO A NEW PLACE FOR THE FIRST TIME CAN BE CHALLENGING.  LET US HELP YOU PLAN YOUR VISIT!

On any given Sunday, a visitor may see a congregation involved in a traditional, but relaxed liturgical service. Our Worship starts at 10:30 am on Sundays at 835 West Addison Street in Lakeview, just two blocks east of Wrigley Field.

Holy Communion is part of each week's service and all are welcome to take part.

Our Children’s program starts after the Welcome and Announcements with a "Blessing of the Children" and runs until just prior to Communion, when the children rejoin their families and are welcome to accompany them at the altar.  The Children's program is a fun and interactive environment and is for children aged 18 months to 12 years old.

We look forward to meeting you!
