Lake View Lutheran Church appreciates the gifts that come with an inclusive and diverse community. With varied gifts and skills LVLC has created a supportive and nurturing community. We find great spiritual strength in the teachings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and in our ministry with and to persons estranged from society. Within this framework we shape worship with expressions that engage our mind, body and spirit. We experience and celebrate God’s presence in the world and in our lives.
Our Values
As individuals we all have things in life that we value. Knowing our values helps keep our priorities in Order. Groups have values as well, and keeping these values in mind guides a group in its common mission. Our values affirm us as we build a life together. They are the cornerstones of our common life that guide our decision making and ministry life.
Gathering together to worship strengthens our individual and corporate life. It is the center of what we do. Worship is celebrative, creative and inclusive. In Word and Sacrament we find meaning and power to face the challenges of every day life.
We know that visitors are a gift to us. We welcome new-comers, acknowledging that we have become the church that we are by welcoming new people and new ideas.
We know that we are called together not just for ourselves, but to be an offering to others: sharing the peace that God has given us. We are committed to sharing this gift through ministries that promote justice and mercy, in acts of kindness and prophetic witness.
Ministry is a job for all people, not just professionals. We encourage all Christians to take an active part in ministry both in and outside the church.
We value preaching and teaching that is relevant today. Preaching and teaching finds its center in the Bible, and shows how God’s word applies to our lives.
We build a lasting relationship with God and with one another. Inviting people into relationship with God, as known through Jesus Christ, is the most important thing we do.
